(Yuan Dynasty)

Waves rise when clouds clear away with rain fleet;

By tower high water is cold and melon sweet.

Green willow leaves shade painted eaves.

On bamboo mat in curtained bed, she's fair as jade,

In silken dress with a fan of brocade.

天净沙•夏

云收雨过波添,楼高水冷瓜甜,绿树阴垂画檐。

纱厨藤簟,玉人罗扇轻缣。

About the poet 

Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368) literati Bai Pu along with Guan Hanqin, Zheng Guangzu and Ma Zhiyuan were considered the four most prominent talents of their time.

About the translator 

Xu Yuanchong (1921-2021) was born in Nanchang in East China's Jiangxi Province. He was a professor of literary translation at Peking University.
