300 farmers take a month to ‘grow’ image of Yuan Longping

Recently, a news report that 300 farmers in Wufu village, Changsha, Central China's Hunan Province, spent more than a month, planting their paddy field art touches many netizens hearts.

The farmers planted rice according to the delineated area on Friday, and the chromatic portrait has grown to preliminary shape. The rice paintings show the image of academician Yuan Longping as the main picture in the area of 40 hectares. The farmers said that they hope to have a good harvest to pay tribute to Yuan, the father of hybrid rice, for his great contribution made to people. 

"The best way for people to cherish the memory of Yuan is to cherish rice and not to waste any of it," netizens said, inspired by the farmers' diligence and kindness.
