Celebration of Belt and Road Initiative's 10th anniversary held in Alashankou port

A celebration event for the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative was held in border city Alashankou in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Friday night, with thousands of people attending the event.

The event featured various kinds of performances including singing, dancing, poetry recitation and acrobatics, highlighting cultural diversity and richness.

As an important city in the building of the core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt, Alashankou has seen continuous improvement of its business environment along with economic transformation and upgrading during recent years, according to media reports.

From January to August, a total of 4,478 China-Europe freight trains left and entered China via the Alashankou port, an increase of 9.62 percent compared to the same period in the previous year, according to Xinhua News Agency.

A total of 111 China-Europe freight train routes pass through Alashankou port, transporting more than 200 kinds of goods to 21 countries, according to Xinhua.
