China willing to maintain growth momentum in trade, investment cooperation with Russia, deepening energy sector cooperation: Chinese premier

China is willing to maintain growth momentum linked to trade and investment cooperation, deepen cooperation in the energy sector, and enhance connectivity and trade liberalization facilitation, with Russia, according to Chinese Premier Li Qiang, when meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on the sidelines of the 22nd Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States, on Wednesday, in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

Cooperation between China and Russia is not targeted at any third party, nor will it be disrupted by any third party, and is aimed at benefitting people from both countries, promoting global development and upholding fairness and justice, Li said.

China is ready to work with Russia to follow the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, continuously deepen cooperation in various fields and push forward the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era, Li said.

Experts have noted that China-Russia relations have been continuously developing as the two heads of state share many similar understandings about bilateral relations and the geopolitical landscape.

China is willing to further align its development strategies with Russia, promote the integration of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Eurasian Economic Union, Li noted.

China welcomes more high-quality Russian products to enter the Chinese market, supporting the deepening of cooperation in the automotive manufacturing sector between the two countries. Both sides should work together to successfully organize the China-Russia years of culture, expand exchanges across education, local regions, and other sectors, according to Li.

China is willing to strengthen cooperation with Russia within the framework of the SCO, promote deep cooperation in the industrial and supply chains, expand cooperation in industrial manufacturing, digital economy, green development, and other sectors, providing new impetus for regional economic growth, Li said.

Mishustin congratulated China on hosting the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation successfully, saying that the Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era is at an unprecedented high level.

Russia is willing to work with China to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, support each other in safeguarding their core interests, promote the alignment between the Belt and Road Initiative and the Eurasian Economic Union, expand cooperation in areas including trade, energy, and connectivity, as well as organize the Russia-China years of culture, deepen cooperation within multilateral mechanisms such as the SCO and BRICS, and promote the process of global multi-polarization.
