On the evening of Monday, a sea vessel collided with a guard pier under the  Jiujiang Bridge on the G240 National Highway in South China's Guangdong Province, failed to beach at Danganzhou Tailwater and sank.

There were a total of 11 crew members on board, with seven rescued and four still missing, with a search effort ongoing, according to media reports.

After preliminary investigation, the accident was determined to be caused by operating error resulting from flood. The specific cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Traffic police have implemented traffic control for both directions of the Jiujiang Bridge on the G240 National Highway (from 6 am Tuesday to 6 am Wednesday). The maritime department has implemented navigation control, with all vessels prohibited from entering the three-kilometer water area upstream and downstream of the bridge, except for emergency rescue boats. Passing vessels are advised to detour.
