In response to Myanmar's Kachin Independence Army (KIA) statement that they have sent a delegation to China for talks, without giving details on location and contents of the talks, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Tuesday that China pays high attention to the situation in northern Myanmar and does not wish to see conflicts and chaos in the country.

China has been promoting dialogue and negotiations among the relevant parties in Myanmar to achieve a ceasefire as soon as possible to ensure the safety of Chinese projects, business personnel in Myanmar and along the border, Mao said at the routine press briefing.

China will continue to actively promote talks for peace and provide support and assistance to Myanmar's peace process to the best of our capability, the spokesperson said.
