China expresses deep condolences, sympathy following deadly explosion at Iran’s Shahid Rajaee Port: FM

In response to a media inquiry regarding the death toll from a massive explosion at Shahid Rajaee Port in southern Iran on Saturday, which has reached 40 with over 1,000 injured and six missing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Monday that China expresses deep condolences to the victims of the explosion, and extends sincere sympathy to the Iranian government, the families of the victims, and the injured, wishing the wounded a speedy recovery.

After the explosion, the Chinese Embassy in Iran and the Consulate General in Bandar Abbas promptly communicated with local Iranian authorities to verify the situation, including checking on the injury status of Chinese nationals and requesting that the local authorities make every effort to provide medical treatment and ensure the safety of the lives and property of Chinese nationals, the Global Times learned from the Chinese Embassy in Iran on Sunday.
