In response to a question on whether the escalating tension between India and Pakistan has affected Chinese citizens there or Chinese airlines flying over the region, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said Wednesday that China is closely following the development of the situation. We advise Chinese citizens and institutions in the relevant areas to closely watch and enhance risk awareness about the local situation, and avoid traveling to locations involved in the conflict. In case of emergencies, please immediately contact the Chinese embassy or consulate for assistance, said the spokesperson.

When responding to if China plans to propose any specific initiatives after India explicitly stated Wednesday that in India-controlled Kashmir, its strike targeted terrorism, Lin said the current tensions between India and Pakistan have drawn significant international attention. China is committed to promoting peace talks and maintaining regional stability. 

We have noted that both India and Pakistan have expressed their desire to avoid further escalation, Lin said.

"It is our hope that both sides will exercise restraint, meet each other halfway, and properly resolve their differences through dialogue and consultation. China stands ready to continue playing a constructive role in easing the current tensions," Lin stated.

When addressing a question regarding whether China would engage with India and Pakistan to help ease the escalating tensions between the two countries, Lin said on Wednesday afternoon that China stands ready to work with the international community and continue to play a constructive role in easing the current tensions.

Lin said that China has made its position clear on the current situation between India and Pakistan. We find India's military operation early this morning regrettable and are concerned about the evolving situation.

India and Pakistan are and will always be each other's neighbors. They're both China's neighbors as well. China opposes all forms of terrorism. We urge both sides to act in the larger interest of peace and stability, remain calm, exercise restraint and refrain from taking actions that may further complicate the situation, Lin said, adding that China stands ready to work with the international community and continue to play a constructive role in easing the current tensions.
