As part of the 80th-anniversary celebrations of the victory in the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War, Russia prepared specially curated media kits for journalists covering the event. The kits, designed with a nostalgic military theme, offer a unique glimpse into the nation's wartime history.  

The media pack, made of durable army-green canvas, resembles the backpacks used by Soviet Red Army soldiers during World War II. Inside, the Global Times reporters found a commemorative notebook, a pencil, and a pen, along with a reprinted edition of the Soviet government's official newspaper - Izvestia, dated May 9, 1945 — the day of Nazi Germany's surrender. 

One of the most intriguing items was a box containing miniature replicas of three iconic Soviet war memorials - the Motherland Calls statue in Volgograd, the Rzhev Memorial to the Soviet Soldier, and the Soviet War Memorial in Berlin's Treptower Park, dedicated to the soldiers who liberated the city from Nazi forces.  

The media kit serves not only as a practical tool for journalists but also as a means to understand the sacrifices of the Soviet people during the war. The inclusion of historical artifacts and memorial replicas also underscores Russia's enduring emphasis on preserving the legacy of the Great Patriotic War, according to a staff member from the press center located in the Manege Central Exhibition Hall.
