During the five-day May Day holidays, a nearly 9-meter-long Lincoln limousine drove onto a viral-famous mountain road in Xuancheng, East China's Anhui Province. Due to the road's narrow, winding turns, the oversized vehicle struggled to maneuver, causing hours-long traffic congestion.

This incident took place on May 2 on a section of mountain road, which starts in Ningguo city and stretches westward to Jingxian county, is part of the so called "Sichuan-Xizang Highway in Southern Anhui." Videos circulating online showed tourists pulling over on the narrow mountain road to allow the Lincoln to make difficult maneuvers, the Paper reported.

Some netizens blamed the vehicle owner for aggravating the already congested holiday traffic, according to the report.

The owner issued a public apology in a video posted the next morning, explaining that he had originally planned to drive up the road at 6 am and down by 8 am. "But the heavy traffic made it impossible to turn around, forcing me to continue forward," he said in the video.

The driver also said that while driving down, heavy traffic combined with dangerously sharp turns led to a minor collision with another tourist's vehicle. He said he finally exited the mountain road around 11 am that day.

Aside from the traffic issues, some netizens questioned whether the limousine's license plate was legal. "For vehicles exceeding 6 meters, does this car's plate comply with regulations?" they asked.

In response, the owner said he was willing to cooperate with the traffic police investigation, according to the report.

On the morning of May 3, local traffic police addressed the incident, noting that they had been stationed during the holiday to guide and divert traffic, and that 9-meter vehicles are generally barred from the route. "The driver likely entered during off-peak hours," the police said.
