In response to media queries on Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposal of direct talks with Ukraine in Istanbul, which comes soon after Chinese leader's Russia visit and meeting with Putin, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Wednesday, "We have provided detailed information on President Xi Jinping's visit to Russia, and China has also held press releases on the relevant activities, which you can refer to." 

I would like to stress that since the first day of the conflict, China has been committed to promoting peace and facilitating talks, supporting the resolution of the crisis through dialogue and negotiation, and emphasizing that all parties should create conditions for direct dialogue between Russia and Ukraine to be resumed, Lin said. 

The position of the Chinese side remains consistent and clear, the spokesperson said.
