When asked to comment on the UK's audit on China relations which is set to be released in early June and how the conclusion will affect the relationship between two countries, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian said on Friday that he made clear position on issues related to China-UK relations yesterday. China and the UK are both permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and major world economies. In the face of increasing global challenges, strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation is in the fundamental and long-term interests of the two countries, and is also conducive to world peace and development.
Britain's long-awaited audit of relations with China is expected to be released in early June, Reuters reported, citing two sources familiar with the matter.
The Labour government has said the audit would be Britain's first in-depth appraisal of its engagement with China and the role of the world's second-largest economy in its supply chains, according to the Reuters.
"We hope that the British side will maintain an objective perception of China, establish a correct policy orientation and create a favorable atmosphere for the healthy and stable development of China-UK relations," Lin said on Friday's press briefing.
