Singer Ye Xiaoyue clarified early Monday morning that news about Eason Chan's death is fake news. According to a Weibo post she shared, Ye said she had personally contacted Chan's assistant and confirmed that the singer is alive and well.
The death rumor emerged shortly after the official Weibo account of Eason Chan's Fear and Dreams tour announced on May 15 the postponement of his upcoming concerts.
According to the statement released on Thursday, Chan began feeling unwell the night before and was diagnosed with COVID-19 the following morning. Doctors advised him to immediately cease all performances and begin rest and recovery.
Due to the sudden illness, Chan will not be able to return to Kaohsiung as originally scheduled, a situation he finds deeply upsetting and greatly regrets. The concert team has already begun rescheduling efforts, said the statement. The shows originally set for May 16, 17, and 18 at the Kaohsiung Arena have been postponed.
