Update: Two injured Chinese tourists in car collision in Italy moved to resuscitation ward; police investigation underway: embassy

Following a severe car collision on Monday evening that killed one Chinese tourist and injured two others, the Chinese Embassy in Italy told the Global Times on Tuesday afternoon that the injured are receiving full medical treatment and have been moved to the resuscitation ward, adding that police are conducting further investigations into the circumstances and causes of the accident.

On Monday evening, three Chinese tourists driving in Sicily, Italy, were involved in a serious car accident in a collision between two vehicles, resulting in one fatality and two injuries as of 9 pm Monday, CCTV news learned from Chinese Embassy in Italy. 

After the incident, the embassy immediately engaged with local police at the scene, relayed the details to the Consular Protection Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and coordinated with nearby consular assistance volunteers to provide timely support where the accident occurred and at hospital, CCTV News reported on Tuesday.

Currently, the embassy is closely monitoring the situation, maintaining communication with all relevant parties, and safeguarding the legal rights of the deceased and injured.

The Chinese Embassy in Italy told the Global Times on Tuesday afternoon that, based on current information, the two injured individuals are receiving full medical treatment and have been moved to the resuscitation ward, though their conditions still require close monitoring. 

Meanwhile, police are conducting further investigations into the circumstances and causes of the accident, the embassy added.
