Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian

When asked about the Afghan interim government's welcome of Pakistan's decision to elevate its diplomatic mission to the level of ambassador, as well as the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan's decision to elevate the status of its mission in Islamabad from chargé d'affaires to ambassador in reciprocity, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Wednesday that China welcomes the recent announcement and believes that this will help enhance mutual trust between Pakistan and Afghanistan, strengthen cooperation, and work together to safeguard peace and stability in the region.

Lin said that this is also an important positive step for Pakistan and Afghanistan to implement the outcome of the informal trilateral meeting of foreign ministers of China, Afghanistan and Pakistan in May this year. China is ready to continue to play a constructive role in promoting better development of relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan. China is ready to work with countries in the region, including Pakistan and Afghanistan, to maintain peace, stability and development in the region, and is committed to building a neighborhood community with a shared future, Lin added.
