Former world snooker champion Neil Robertson has become the latest elite athlete to make Hong Kong his home, having secured residency through the city's Quality Migrant Admission Scheme, according to Hong Kong media reports.
In a TikTok announcement on June 6, Robertson revealed that he and his family had successfully obtained Hong Kong identity cards. Robertson expressed a deep affection for the city and said he plans to pursue more business partnerships and make more frequent visits following his new status as a Hong Kong resident.
"I always play well in Hong Kong, and have a special connection with the city," said Robertson in the video.
Robertson cemented Hong Kong SAR's significance in his career with a dominant performance at the 2025 World Grand Prix, where he clinched the title with a stunning 10-0 victory over Stuart Bingham at Kai Tak Arena, according to the Standard, a Hong Kong media outlet.
Robertson revealed his new residency status will enable more frequent visits as he develops undisclosed business ventures in the city, with detailed plans expected to be announced in the coming weeks, the Standard reported.
Widely regarded as Australia's greatest ever snooker player, the Melbourne-born Robertson has left an indelible mark on the sport. Known as one of snooker's most formidable left-handed players, he achieved the world No. 1 ranking in 2010 — the same year he claimed his maiden World Championship title.
