Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian

In response to a media inquiry which said Iran has repeatedly threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz if it comes under further attack, which now seems likely after Israel's strike and whether China supports Iran taking such action as a retaliatory measure, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian on Friday said that he would not comment on hypothetical questions. The renewed escalation of tensions in the region is not in the interest of any party. 

China calls on all relevant parties to do more to promote regional peace and stability and to avoid further escalation of tensions. China is also willing to continue playing a constructive role in this regard, said Lin.
