Shennongjia scenic spot in Central China's Hubei Province recently issued a nationwide recruitment notice for “wild man” NPCs (non-player characters), offering a daily wage of 500 yuan ($69), China National Radio (CNR) reported.

The cultural and tourism company managing the scenic spot issued a recruitment announcement on June 7, stating that it is urgently seeking “wild man” NPCs in the country, according to CNR.

According to the report, the job requires performers to remain silent in front of tourists and only make sounds mimicking primitive humans. Additionally, they are encouraged to accept food offerings from visitors, and candidates with experience eating raw food will be given priority, according to the report.

Job responsibilities also include patrolling the spot in wild man costumes, occasionally performing abstract dance routines, recording and sharing the wild man experience via video, according to the recruitment notice.

The position is based in the Shennongjia Forestry District, covering areas including scenic spots and surrounding primitive forests. The wage is paid daily at 500 yuan, with one-million-yuan accident insurance is provided. A total of 16 positions are available.

A staff worker said that after the announcement was released on June 7, more than 2,000 applications were received that same night, with total registrations reaching nearly 4,000, according to the report.
