China firmly opposes the weaponization of humanitarian aid, strongly condemns attacks on civilians, and calls for a thorough investigation and accountability, said Fu Cong, China's Permanent Representative to the UN, during a United Nations Security Council open debate on the Palestinian-Israeli issue.
The debate was held on Tuesday morning local time. During the meeting, Fu stated that the tragedy experienced by the Palestinian people shakes the foundations of international fairness and justice and challenges the moral conscience of humanity.
The international community must not allow such suffering to continue and must take urgent action, said Fu.
China strongly urges the full restoration of humanitarian access, Fu said. According to the report by the UN Secretary-General, the militarized aid distribution mechanism promoted by the US and Israel violates the principles of impartiality, independence, and neutrality. It is insufficient to alleviate the humanitarian crisis and instead poses greater danger to civilians.
Israeli forces have opened fire on civilians attempting to approach aid distribution points, resulting in more than 500 deaths and over 4,000 injuries. The search for food by the people of Gaza must not become a quest for death, said Fu. China firmly opposes the weaponization of humanitarian aid, strongly condemns attacks on civilians and calls for a thorough investigation and accountability.
China strongly demands an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza, firmly opposes unilateral actions that violate international law, and strongly calls for the revitalization of the two-state solution, Fu said.
China will continue to work with the international community to help end the conflict in Gaza, alleviate the humanitarian disaster, implement the two-state solution, and achieve a comprehensive, just, and lasting resolution to the Palestinian issue, he said.
