Northwest China's Gansu Province has established a provincial-level investigation team to investigate the abnormal blood lead case at a kindergarten in the city of Tianshui. The State Council's food safety office has dispatched a working group to guide and supervise the work. The results of the investigation and disposal will be announced to the public in a timely manner, according to the Gansu provincial government on Saturday.
Eight individuals connected to the children's abnormal blood lead case at a kindergarten in Tianshui have been placed under criminal detention after investigations revealed that the kindergarten illegally added inedible painted pigments to children's foods, the Xinhua News Agency reported on Tuesday.
According to blood lead standards, a total of 233 children were found to have abnormal blood lead levels, while 18 were within the normal range.
