The Chinese Embassy in Vietnam reminded Chinese nationals in the country to be vigilant against the approaching typhoon Wipha, which is projected to make landfall in the northeastern coastal area of Vietnam from the afternoon to night on Tuesday and will bring heavy rainfall in northern and central northern Vietnam from Monday to Wednesday.
According to meteorological departments in Vietnam, the widespread rainfall is expected to reach 100 to 350 millimeters, with some areas exceeding 600 millimeters.
Chinese nationals in the country are urged to enhance their awareness of prevention and to prepare for strong winds and heavy rainfall. The embassy suggests refraining from participating in water-based activities, staying updated on weather forecasts and disaster warning information and canceling unnecessary outings during heavy rain.
"If it is necessary to go out, prepare for lightning and heavy rain, avoid high-risk areas such as mountains and riverbanks, keep a safe distance from transformers, utility poles, billboards and other objects, and drive slowly to avoid low-lying areas with accumulated water," said the embassy.
According to China's National Meteorological Center, Wipha will move southwest at a speed of 15 to 20 kilometers per hour and is expected to enter the Beibu Gulf later on Monday. Its intensity will further develop, and it will make landfall again on the northern coast of Vietnam during the day on Tuesday at the strong tropical storm level.
