Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun
Responding to a question about new round of sanctions announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky which targeted 53 individuals and legal entities from China and other countries, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Monday that China consistently opposes unilateral sanctions that lack a basis in international law and are not authorized by the UN Security Council.
Guo urged Ukraine to immediately correct its mistake and eliminate the negative impact. China will resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of its enterprises, he added at Monday's press conference.
Ukrainian President enacted a new round of sanctions on Sunday, targeting dozens of individuals and companies that it claims to be linked to Russia's defense industry, the Kyiv Independent reported.
The report quoted Zelensky as saying that the decree synchronizes Ukraine's sanctions with European sanctions.
