Enhancing industrial standards to promote high-quality economic development and boost equipment upgrades and trade-ins of consumer goods has achieved primary results, unleashing consumption vitality, driving the high-quality development of the manufacturing sector while improving industrial safety, the China Media Group reported on Monday.

To evaluate the implementation effects of the plan for promoting high-quality economic development through standardization and the action plan to ramp up equipment upgrades and trade-ins of consumer goods through enhanced standards, the State Administration for Market Regulation monitored the implementation of nearly 200 items from the two plans.

Evaluation results showed that more than 16,900 product categories are being produced in accordance with the standards, and more than 1,500 testing institutions are complying with clear-cut standards, with initial success observed in the implementation of standards in many industrial sectors.

As to standards-driven consumer goods trade-in programs, a series of standards such as smart consumer goods safety and green product evaluation for furniture have spurred the emergence of popular consumer products like digital showers and smart temperature-sensing toilets.

This year, more than 50 million orders for home decoration and kitchen/bathroom upgrades have been recorded, with 3,000 new categories of smart toilets introduced. Based primarily on standards of the green product evaluation for furniture, more than 2,200 green furniture product certificates have been issued, covering more than 700 certified enterprises, continuously unleashing consumer vitality.

In terms of the standards for promoting the high-quality development of manufacturing, the standards guiding lithium-ion batteries for power storage have accelerated the upgrading of energy storage products. This year, the entire energy storage industry chain has seen more than 120 capacity projects, with 59 new overseas energy storage orders.

The standards for a direct-current charging system of the electric vehicle (EV) conductive charging have addressed the bottleneck of protracted EV charging time. After its implementation, short-term charging power can reach up to 1,000 kilowatts, enabling a 5-minute charge for a 400-kilometer range, with more than 120 vehicle models and charging pile products adopting this standard.

In addition, standards such as requirements and methods for reliability flight testing of civilian drones have reduced research, testing and production costs. The development cost of large and medium-sized fixed-wing drones has dropped by 18 percent, and the collision injury risk index for light and small civilian drones has dropped by an average of 40 to 60 percent, according to the report.

From the perspective of enhancing safety assurance capabilities, the national standards for portable fire extinguishers and trolley-type fire extinguishers have added classification requirements for metal fires and cooking fires, enabling these products to handle more complex fire scenarios and improving the efficiency of extinguishing early-stage fires.

In the first quarter, the transaction value of household fire extinguishers on e-commerce platforms increased by 65 percent, significantly improving fire prevention capabilities in buildings, catering establishments and ordinary households, said the report.
