A park salvage team in Taiyuan, North China's Shanxi Province, was initially retrieving a phone that had fallen into the water but instead discovered rifle bullets. After reporting the find to the authorities, the team recovered more than 100 bullets from the lake, which have now been handed over to police, local media reported.

A security officer at a park told Jimu News on Tuesday that the bullets were discovered earlier this month in a lotus pond within the park. At the time, someone's phone had fallen into the water, and while staff were retrieving it, they unexpectedly came across the bullets. Police from the local station arrived and took the bullets away.

According to reports, when a visitor's phone accidentally fell into the lake, the salvage team used a large magnet to carry out an underwater retrieval operation. While the phone could not be found, the magnet "picked up" something unexpected.

Upon closer inspection, staff found that the objects were not ordinary metal, but multiple rifle bullets, the report said.

The police stated that they will continue to conduct thorough searches and investigations to determine whether there are any other related items in the lake.

The incident also serves as a warning to the public, said the report. In public areas, it is important to stay vigilant, and if any suspicious items are found, do not attempt to handle them by oneself. Instead, contact the police or relevant authorities immediately to help safeguard public safety, according to Jimu News.
