The Chinese Embassy in Japan on Monday reminded Chinese travelers and Chinese nationals living in Japan to strengthen their personal safety awareness and safeguard their lives and property.

Recently, there has been an increase in public security incidents in Japan, with several cases involving attacks on Chinese nationals. In addition, telecom fraud targeting overseas students and technical interns has become more frequent, said the embassy in a release published in its Wechat account.

In one recent case, a Chinese student fell victim to a "fake kidnapping, real scam" trap, resulting in a financial loss of tens of millions of yen. On the natural disaster front, multiple high-temperature and heavy rainfall alerts have been issued across Japan. A Chinese student recently went missing while attempting to climb Mount Fuji in the rain wearing only light clothing, causing great concern among family and friends, the embassy said.

It said that in light of recent frequent attacks against Chinese nationals, the Chinese Embassy has lodged stern representations with Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, demanding that Japan take concrete measures to protect the safety and legitimate rights of Chinese nationals.

Chinese travelers and nationals in Japan are advised to remain vigilant, avoid areas with complicated crowds or poor security, and comply with local laws and regulations. In the event of targeted discrimination or disputes, remain calm, respond appropriately, avoid physical conflict, and ensure personal safety while preserving evidence, according to the embassy notice.

The embassy also warned Chinese nationals to pay close attention to weather condition in Japan, purchase insurance before departure, pay attention to railway traffic safety, and stay wary of telecom fraud.
