Recently, the Japanese government, through diplomatic channels, urged European and Asian countries not to participate in the commemorative events marking 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War in Beijing on September 3.
In response, Michael Crook, Son of David Crook (a British Friend of China), and Chairman of the International Committee for the Promotion of Chinese Industrial Cooperatives (ICCIC), said in an interview at the International Communication Symposium - In Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War held on Saturday afternoon that in the face of a series of actions taken by the Japanese government in recent years, we must not show weakness.
He stressed the importance of uniting the people of those countries [Japan], while also urging them not to allow their bellicose government to have its way.
