Tourists have posted videos praising a newly opened restroom at the Dunhuang night market in Northwest China's Gansu Province. The restroom not only features Dunhuang murals but also incorporates unique local plants, making it feel like being in a scenic spot.
Many netizens said that the restroom has become a viral check-in spot, with a continuous stream of people coming to take photos, according to the Jimu News.
Staff from the night market's operator said the restroom, called "Dunhuang Jingjie" Public Cultural Space, is located in the Dunhuang night market and was transformed from the nearly 30-year-old "Bajing Tower." It was just opened on August 16 of this year and has quickly become quite popular, per the report.
A tourist from Lanzhou, another city from Gansu, posted that when she was searching for a restroom at the night market, she initially thought she had accidentally stumbled into an unopened grotto. Upon entering, she discovered it was a restroom, featuring a starry ceiling resembling a corbel vault, walls adorned with flying celestial murals that reflect light, and even fully automatic toilets.
The handwashing stations feature tiles with Dunhuang motifs. Nearby, some tourists were touching up their makeup while saying, "I wish I had worn Hanfu, traditional Chinese outfit, clothing for photos here," said the report.
A tourist from North China's Hebei Province said he returned the next day after hearing it was a check-in spot, and found it very clean inside.
Another visitor from Southwest China's Sichuan Province noted that each stall in the restroom is spacious and painted in different Dunhuang-themed colors.
It features smart toilets, equipped with disposable toilet seat covers, feminine hygiene products, disinfectant, and several cute Dunhuang-themed decorative items. Cleaning staff were seen maintaining hygiene promptly.
