94 primary school students in Guangdong hospitalized for gastrointestinal issues; authorities vow strict action after investigation

Ninety-four students from the primary department of Puning Huamei experimental school in Lufeng, South China's Guangdong Province, developed gastrointestinal discomfort on Thursday. As of now, all students are in stable condition, with 85 having returned to home or school, while nine remain in the hospital for observation at their parents' request, according to a statement released by Lufeng education bureau on Friday.

The statement said that after the incident, the school immediately sent the students to the hospital for treatment. The hospital opened a fast-track channel to provide medical care swiftly. The CPC Lufeng municipal committee and the Lufeng municipal government quickly organized an investigation, with the education, health, market regulation, and public security departments jointly carrying out related work.

The specific cause is still under investigation. Relevant responsible personnel will be strictly dealt with in accordance with law and regulations based on the investigation results, the statement said.
