The image of "Black Wolf," a first-class meritorious dog from Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, was featured in the newly unveiled unified logo for Chinese police dogs, released by the police dog working department of the Ministry of Public Security, according to Chongqing Daily.
The new logo incorporates elements such as a police dog, shield, and pine branches, serving as the emblem of China's professional police dog force.
The featured dog head is "Black Wolf." The shield represents the people's police and their sacred duty to safeguard the public, while the pine branches embody their resilience and unwavering resolve, according to a release from the Wechat account of the criminal investigation department of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on Wednesday.
"Black Wolf," born in 2011 in Kunming, Yunnan Province, is a distinguished representative of the Kunming breed, a police dog breed independently developed in China.
It served for over a decade after joining the Wanzhou police dog unit in Chongqing in 2012. It took part in more than 300 investigations, playing key roles in over 50 cases, including a dozen complex ones. In 2018, it won first place nationwide in the bloodstain search event at the MPS's police dog competition, and in 2019 was honored as a first-class meritorious dog. "Black Wolf" passed away in July 2023.
