The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) on Monday voiced strong support for the investigations, being launched by the country's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) on Saturday into some US semiconductor products and the trade measures by the US side targeting Chinese integrated circuits.
On Saturday, MOFCOM announced an anti-dumping probe into imports of certain analog chips from the US, alongside an anti-discrimination probe into US measures targeting China's integrated circuit sector, according to the ministry's notice.
In a statement published on CAAM's website on Monday, the association said that it "highly values" the
MOFCOM announcement and "resolutely supports" the Chinese government's decision to take necessary measures in accordance with the law.
CAAM noted that technological advancement and sustainable development in the auto industry, in particular, depend on an open, fair and non-discriminatory international environment, said the statement.
It urged domestic and global enterprises to step up technological innovation and strengthen collaboration along supply chains, while deepening open cooperation in areas such as electrification and smart mobility. Such efforts, the group noted, are essential to advancing the global auto industry toward achieving greener, safer and higher-quality growth, the statement said.
"CAAM will continue to support and cooperate with the investigation authorities and remain committed to safeguarding fair trade and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the industry," read the statement.
CAAM's remarks came after the China Semiconductor Industry Association issued a similar declaration on Saturday, and endorsements from the
Jiangsu Semiconductor Industry Association and the
China Association of Communication Enterprises on Sunday. All these groups expressed full support for MOFCOM actions.
