The US has reportedly deployed the Typhon missile system in Japan as part of a joint drill. When asked to comment on the new development as China had previously voiced opposition to deployment in the region and said it escalated arms race, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Tuesday that the US and Japan insisted on deploying the Typhon missile system in Japan under the excuse of a joint military exercises despite China's solemn concern. China expressed strong dissatisfaction and is firmly opposed to this. US' deployment of Typhon system in Asia jeopardizes other countries' justified security interests, escalates risk of regional arms race and military confrontation, posing a substantial threat to the region's strategic security.

The US and Japan should earnestly respect the security concerns of other countries and take concrete actions to play a positive role in regional peace and stability, rather than the opposite. China urges the US and Japan to face up to the calls of regional countries, correct their wrong practices, and withdraw the Typhon medium-range missile system as soon as possible, said the spokesperson.

Due to Japan's history of militarist aggression, its military and security developments have always been closely watched by its Asian neighbors and the international community. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. We urge Japan to deeply reflect on its history of aggression, adhere to the path of peace, speak and act with caution in the field of military and security, and refrain from doing things that break faith with its Asian neighbors and undermine regional peace and stability, Lin noted.
