As the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum is to to open on Wednesday, Harold Raugh, president of the International Commission of Military History, highlighted China's overlooked role in World War II during a high-end interview titled Contemporary Significance of the Victory in the World Anti-Fascist War.
"The parade held by the PLA two weeks ago was a very important ceremony and event, reminding people that China was an ally in World War II and made a major contribution to the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War," Raugh said.
Raugh said the V-Day military parade held in Beijing was a very important event marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War. He noted that China played an important role in the victory, but this contribution has been neglected in world history, especially in the Western world, where the postwar narrative has been dominated by Western allies and their self-centered textbooks and teaching.
