At a high-end interview during the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum on Wednesday, Harold Raugh, president of the International Commission of Military History, said China's V-Day military parade was "very important and a very significant parade" to remind the world of China's key role in the victory of World War II, CCTV News reported.

"I think it was very important and a very significant parade to remind, not just the Western world, but the world, that China played a significant role in that victory," Raugh said, according to a CCTV News video posted on the official WeChat account of its military channel.

"(China's role) has frequently been overlooked in the history books today, at least from the Western perspective, because the Western allies and the political environment that resulted from the World War II gave dominance to the Western world. They wrote their books, and gave the lion's share of the credit to what they did," Raugh added.

"I thought it was a very nice parade. The purpose of the parade was to show a military discipline force, which was very excellent, and to show off new weaponry technology, which is also very good. But I think what it did too is remind the Western world that China is still, remains, and will be in the future, a key player on the international stage," Raugh noted, according to CCTV News.
