Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office
In response to the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities' claim that the mainland has no right to "illegally and unilaterally designate" a reserve after China's State Council approved the establishment of a national nature reserve on Huangyan Dao, Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, said on Wednesday that the DPP authorities' deliberate collusion with external forces to stir up trouble and provocation betrays the nation and is contemptible.
Huangyan Dao is China's inherent territory, and China has indisputable sovereignty over Huangyan Dao and its adjacent waters. Both sides of the Taiwan Straits belong to one China. Safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the overall interests of the Chinese nation, is the shared responsibility that compatriots on both sides cannot shirk, Chen said.
