A Chinese citizen died in a mine collapse accident in Russia's Tuva Republic, the Chinese Consulate General in Irkutsk confirmed to Global Times on Wednesday. 

The Chinese Consulate General told the Global Times that it learned of the accident immediately upon its occurrence. The consulate will assist with the follow-up arrangements.

The officials of the Tuva Republic received a report of a cave-in at a mine shaft 160 meters underground, and one person died, according to Russian media outlets.
