China called on Arab countries and the international community to jointly oppose unilateral actions that undermine the foundation of the two-state solution, Geng Shuang, China's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, said at a high-level informal dialogue between the UN Security Council and the Arab Summit Troika, according to the Xinhua News Agency.
Geng said that that the Palestinian question is at the core of the Middle East issue and to implement the two-state solution is the only viable solution to the question. China supports this week’s high-level meeting on the two-state solution and called on Arab countries and the broader international community to take more practical and effective steps to sustain positive momentum, oppose the forced displacement of the Palestinian people, and reject unlawful attempts to annex the territories of Gaza or the West Bank.
Geng said the UN Security Council has held informal dialogues with the Arab Summit Troika for five consecutive years during the UN General Assembly’s high-level week. Under the current circumstances, the significance of this dialogue has become even more pronounced.
Geng urged an immediate end to the conflict in Gaza. Gaza has become a living hell where 65,000 people have been killed and more than two million civilians are enduring a humanitarian catastrophe. He noted that the Arab League and regional states have actively pushed for a ceasefire, with Egypt and Qatar making major mediation efforts.
Geng said the Security Council bears the primary responsibility for peace and security, urging all members — especially those with significant influence over the parties concerned — to show political will and support all necessary actions to secure a ceasefire and ease the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Geng also called for urgent steps to de-escalate broader regional tensions, warning that the conflict’s negative spillover effects are fueling instability. Israel must stop violating the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen.
