Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun
In response to a media inquiry on that recently, the Taiwan regional authorities have sent personnel to visit certain countries under different names and in different capacities, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Monday that China has noted the relevant situation. The Lai Ching-te authorities, under the guise of economic, technological, and cultural exchanges, or claiming so-called "private" or "non-official" identities, have been making visits to certain countries, spreading "Taiwan independence" separatist lies and fallacies, and attempting to rope in external forces to embolden their separatist acts and to cover up the predicament of its governing incompetence through self-promotional rhetoric. These clumsy performances can only make the international community see through their ugly face, and such malicious intent and despicable tactics cannot change the fact that Taiwan is part of China, nor can it shake the overall international consensus on upholding the one-China principle."We must stress once again: there is only one China in the world, Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, and the government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government representing all of China. This is the prevailing consensus of the international community and a fundamental norm of international relations," said Guo.
The one-China principle is the precondition and foundation for China's establishment and development of diplomatic relations with all other countries, Guo said.
Guo emphasized that certain Western politicians, driven by selfish interests, insist on engaging in official exchanges with Taiwan. This will inevitably undermine mutual trust and mutually beneficial cooperation in bilateral relations.
We urge relevant countries to abide by their political commitments to China, truly implement the one-China principle, and restrain their relevant politicians from colluding with "Taiwan independence" separatists. They should not insist on standing in opposition to over 1.4 billion Chinese people, said Guo.
The just cause of the Chinese people to realize national reunification is unstoppable, and the international consensus on the one-China principle is unshakable. Any attempt to challenge the one-China principle, to challenge international law and the international order, will be resolutely opposed by the entire Chinese people and by all peace-loving, justice-upholding peoples around the world, said the spokesperson.
