Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun

China supports using the Olympic Truce resolutions as an opportunity to resolve differences through dialogue, replace confrontation with cooperation, enhance mutual understanding, and safeguard world peace and development, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a press briefing on Thursday.

Guo made the remarks in response to a media inquiry regarding recent comments by Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, who stated that Italy will submit a proposal for a worldwide ceasefire to the UN before next year's Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. Tajani expressed hope that China would support the Olympic truce proposal for all conflicts, including those in Ukraine and the Middle East, according to media reports.

Noting that the world today is neither peaceful nor tranquil, with regional security challenges constantly emerging, Guo said the Olympic true tradition has a long history, embodying humanity's noble pursuit of peace and solidarity, aligning with the UN's original mission to maintain international peace and security.
