In response to a question that Israel and Hamas on Thursday reached a long-sought deal for a Gaza ceasefire, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated on Thursday that China hopes for a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza as soon as possible to effectively alleviate the humanitarian crisis and ease regional tensions. 

China advocates adhering to the principle of "Palestinians governing Palestine" and promoting the implementation of the "two-state solution." China is willing to work with the international community to make unremitting efforts for a comprehensive, just, and lasting resolution to the Palestinian question and to promote peace and stability in the Middle East, Guo said.
