The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) announced a strategic partnership with its US counterpart, the NBA, to collaborate on areas including national team development and talent training programs, according to a Weibo post by CCTV Sports on Friday.
The NBA will support the development of China's men's and women's national basketball teams by providing opportunities to participate in the NBA Summer League and WNBA preseason games in the US, the post said.
Promising young Chinese players will be selected to attend the Basketball Without Borders camp, train at the NBA Academy, and take part in tryouts for the NBA, WNBA, and NBA G League.
The two sides will work together to build a basketball talent development system. Through online training programs, the partnership will help Chinese coaches and referees improve their professional skills, the post said.
Two NBA preseason matchups between the Phoenix Suns and Brooklyn Nets are set to take place in China's Macao Special Administrative Region on Friday and Sunday, marking the first NBA games held in China since 2019, according to an AP report on Thursday.Global Times
