Liu Xianfa, commissioner of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) met with Julie Eadeh, the newly appointed US Consul General to the Hong Kong and Macao SARs, on Friday, urging the US side to stop using so-called annual report to attack and smear Macao, stressing that the US must refrain from actions that undermine Macao's security, stability, and prosperity, according to a statement from the commissioner's office on Monday.

Liu also expressed hope that Eadeh would contribute to promoting exchanges and cooperation between Macao and the US, and play an active role in fostering stable, healthy, and sustainable development of China-US relations.

Eadeh remarked that the US values exchanges and cooperation with Macao in areas such as trade, investment, and culture, and expressed her willingness to play a positive role in advancing these efforts.

Cui Jianchun, commissioner of China's Foreign Ministry in the HKSAR, lodged "solemn representations" with Eadeh during a meeting on September 30 about "her conduct since she assumed duties," according to the Commissioner's Office on October 2.

China has explicitly put forward "Four Nos" to the US regarding Hong Kong affairs: No to meeting people an envoy should not meet with and no to inciting, assisting, instigating or funding those who oppose China and cause chaos in Hong Kong.
