Resolution 2758 of the UN General Assembly completely resolved, politically, legally, and procedurally, the question of the representation of the whole of China, including Taiwan, in the UN. It solemnly confirms and fully embodies the one-China principle. History cannot be tampered with, and facts cannot be distorted, said Chen Binhua, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office on Wednesday, in response to Taiwan regional leader Lai Ching-te's accusation in his so-called Double Ten speech that the mainland was distorting UN General Assembly Resolution 2758.

Chen said there is only one China in the world, and both the mainland and island of Taiwan belong to one and the same China. China's sovereignty and territorial integrity have never been divided and will never be divided — this is the true status quo of the Taiwan Straits.

Chen said the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities stubbornly adhere to their "Taiwan independence" separatist stance, deny the 1992 Consensus, and continually spread separatist fallacies. They deliberately undermine the status quo across the Taiwan Straits and attempt to split island of Taiwan from China. Their actions have seriously damaged peace and stability across the Straits, harmed the interests and well-being of Taiwan compatriots, and created major obstacles to cross-Straits dialogue and communication.

He expressed hope that the residents in Taiwan will clearly see the true "Taiwan independence" nature of the DPP authorities — as "destroyers of cross-Straits peace" and "creators of crises in the Taiwan Straits" — and work together with the mainland to firmly oppose "Taiwan independence" separatism, safeguard their own interests and well-being through concrete actions, and uphold peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits.
