When commenting on questions that Sanae Takaichi has just been elected Japan's prime minister, what is China's expectation for her, and how will China-Japan relations be influenced? Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated, "We have taken note of the relevant election results. This is Japan's internal affair." 

He added that China and Japan are close neighbors. China's position on China-Japan relations is consistent and clear. We hope that Japan will work with China in the same direction, abide by the principles set out in the four political documents between China and Japan, honor its political commitments on major issues such as history and the Taiwan question, uphold the political foundation of bilateral relations, and comprehensively advance the China-Japan strategic relationship of mutual benefit.
