Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun
When asked about the Chinese side's expectations on developing China-South Korea relations as Chinese President Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to the Republic of Korea (ROK), Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a press conference on Friday that China and South Korea are close neighbors and partners. China attaches great importance to China-South Korea relations and maintains stability and continuity in its policy toward South Korea.
According to Guo, this will be President Xi's first state visit to South Korea in 11 years, and the first meeting between the heads of state of China and South Korea since President Lee Jae-myung took office.
China stands ready to work with South Korea to stay committed to the original aspirations of establishing diplomatic relations, uphold good-neighborliness and friendship, strive for mutual benefit and win-win outcomes, and advance the China-ROK strategic cooperative partnership, Guo said.
