Recently, Wang Jianjun, vice chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and dismissed from public office, and Xu Xianping, former deputy head of the National Development and Reform Commission, China's top economic planner, has been expelled from the CPC, both for serious violations of Party disciplines and state laws, according to official statements by China's top anti-graft body on Monday.

The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision noted in their joint statement seen on Monday that the decisions were made following investigations into Wang's and Xu's cases, conducted with the approval of the CPC Central Committee.

Wang was found to have engaged extensively in power-exchange-for-money deals and family-related corruption. He was also found of taking advantage of his positions to seek profits for others in matters such as company stock listing and investment funding, illegally accepting huge amounts of money and gifts in return.

Xu was detected to have accepted free-of-charge trips and banquets that could compromise official duties, improperly helped others with their job promotions and transfers, and leveraged his position to seek profits for others in loan approvals, business operations, and obtaining project contracts, illegally accepting huge amounts of money and gifts, too.

The two high-ranking officials have been expelled from the CPC, and Wang was also dismissed from his public office. Their illicit gains have been confiscated and their cases will be transferred to procuratorial authorities for examination and prosecution in accordance with the law, the statements read.
