Chinese Ministry of Commerce on Saturday urged the Netherlands to put forward constructive proposals on Nexperia issue and take practical measures as soon as possible to address the issue at its source, saying China has agreed to the Dutch side's China visit for negotiations.

Asked to comment on Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs Vincent Karremans' statement regarding Nexperia on his social media, a spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said that China has taken note of the minister's remarks made on Thursday, but has yet to see any concrete actions from the Dutch side to stop infringing upon the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises and to restore stability to the global semiconductor supply chain.

China, in line with its responsible approach to safeguarding the stability and security of the global semiconductor supply chain, announced on November 1 an exemption for eligible related exports, the spokesperson said, adding that the root cause of the current disruption to the global semiconductor supply chain lies with the Netherlands.

The spokesperson stressed that Dutch side's statement should not remain mere words, and it should put forward constructive proposals and take practical measures as soon as possible, restore the stability of global semiconductor supply chain swiftly and effectively at its source, and cease using administrative measures to intervene in the internal affairs of enterprises, so as to promote the early resolution of the Nexperia issue.

China has agreed to the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs' request to send representatives to China for negotiations, said the spokesperson.
