At the invitation of the governments of Guinea and Sierra Leone, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council Liu Guozhong will visit the two countries from November 10 to 16. At the invitation of President Mamadi Doumbouya of Guinea, Vice Premier Liu Guozhong will attend the inauguration of the Simandou iron ore mine project on November 11 as President Xi Jinping's Special Representative.
When asked about China's expectations for the visit, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Monday that Guinea and Sierra Leone are long-standing friends and comprehensive strategic cooperative partners of China.
Vice Premier Liu Guozhong's visit will further consolidate and deepen China's relations with both countries, renew traditional friendship, and advance practical cooperation across multiple sectors, injecting fresh momentum into the implementation of the outcomes of 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit.
The upcoming commissioning of the Simandou iron ore mine is a significant achievement resulting from the unity and collaboration among China, Guinea, and other parties concerned. China warmly congratulates to this and is ready to work with all relevant parties to help the Guinean people turn resource advantages into stronger development momentum, achieving mutual benefit and win-win outcomes, the spokesperson added.
The spokesperson said that the 2024 FOCAC Beijing Summit was a resounding success, ushering in a new phase in building an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era. This year marks the beginning of implementing the outcomes of the summit, and both China and African countries have taken active actions, with many outcomes being implemented on the continent, according to the spokesperson.
