In response to a question about Japanese media reports claiming that, the Chinese Embassy in Japan had advised its staff not to go outside, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Friday that certain Japanese politicians and media have deliberately hyped up the issue in an attempt to mislead the public and shift the focus. This is highly irresponsible. 

Meanwhile, right-wing elements in Japan and some online voices have made extreme and threatening remarks targeting Chinese diplomats. China is deeply concerned and has demanded that Japan take the matter seriously, investigate the issue, and curb such behavior, Lin said.

We once again urge the Japanese side to face up to the root cause of the problem, immediately correct and retract its wrongful words and deeds, and refrain from confusing right and wrong, shifting the focus, or trying to blame the innocent party for what oneself is guilty of, the spokesperson said.
