When asked to comment on reports in the Financial Times that a US White House national security memorandum and related statements claimed that Alibaba Group provided technical support to the Chinese military targeting the US, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said the company in question has already responded.

"The Chinese government attaches great importance to and protects data privacy and security in accordance with the law. It has never and will never require companies to collect or store data in ways that violate the law," Mao said.
