China and the EU are important economic and trade partners of each other, and China is willing to work with Europe to effectively implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both sides, maintain close communication at all levels, to resolve economic and trade differences, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and promote the sound development of China-EU economic and trade relations, China's Ministry of Commerce spokesperson He Yongqian said in Beijing on Thursday.

The comments were made in response to media questions on whether any progress has been made regarding possible economic, trade, and investment agreements between China and the EU, or on issues such as the tariffs levied on Chinese electric vehicles. The media question noted that, recently, high-level delegations from Germany and Spain visited Beijing and they held meetings with the Chinese side, where topics such as trade and investment were discussed.
